Exploring a Unusual Steam Game Trial: Controlling a Piece of Feces in a Mission to Arrive at the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is now live, and gamers have found a variety of entertaining independent titles. Yet, one stands out for its unconventional concept. Named Unko Technica, this retro-inspired platformer lets you play a protagonist that is truly a piece of poop trying to navigate to a commode. As a fun fact, "Unko" translates to "poop."

How you interact is easy to grasp: you only need a one button to leap. In numerous stages, you'll face boss fights and unlock a market to purchase outfits for your fecal avatar.

Execute your actions with caution, as a mistake forces restarting the level. Jump on floating orbs to launch your character higher, traverse crumbling surfaces, and touch triggers to open secret routes. Gather currency for buying more difficult stages where things gets crazy.

In terms of design, the game features vibrant stages and a killer background music. Its minimalist visual style featuring shifting geometric shapes evokes memories of gamers of old favorites like Earthbound.

Although difficult to think of other games where you control a piece of feces, video games have long featured fecal matter. As an illustration, in Death Stranding, you can craft grenades from protagonist droppings. Games like Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved utilize manure as soil enrichment. And of course, this theme shows up heavily in the role-playing game The Stick of Truth.

Regardless of its silly concept, Unko Technica has already garnered notable recognition, including taking top honors at a major publisher's game competition in 2023. This trial version is available at present on Steam, with the final release planned to debut on PC on November 19.
